French Vanilla Ice Cream
Ice cream is easily my favorite sweet treat. And, boring as it might sound, French vanilla ice cream is my hands down favorite flavor. It’s everything you might want, goes with any topping you can think of, stir in flavors, no problem, root beer float, banana split, grilled fruit, perfect for any application. Plus, it’s the easiest to make. So, celebrate a random weeknight with a little bowl of ice cream!
Our family has always enjoyed homemade ice cream. My grandparents would make ice cream for our summertime gatherings and it was a great treat. They had the loud, electric model that took lots of ice and rock salt and we probably should have had ear protection. My parents had the old school hand-crank model in our home, later upgraded to a pre-frozen Donvier model that was much quicker. Occasionally we would add in fruit but that was as fancy as ice cream got in my childhood. Later, we branched out to other flavors and sometimes added cookie pieces but vanilla remains my favorite.
Later on, I discovered all the great attachments for our Kitchen Aid mixer and I love the Kitchen Aid ice cream bowl attachment for our stand mixer. Quick, easy, and simple cleanup and we store ours in the freezer so it’s always ready to go. You can use whatever ice cream freezer you have at your disposal.
