Cheesy Beefy Macaroni is comfort food at its best. A quick casserole for a cold evening that's versatile and hearty. Paired with a simple side of some frozen veggies, you'll have a weeknight dinner on the table in no time without breaking a sweat.

  • 1 pkg. Kraft Macaroni & Cheese
  • 1/4 cup Butter for Mac & Cheese
  • 1/4 cup Milk for Mac & Cheese
  • 1 lb. Ground Beef
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 can Cream of Mushroom soup
  • 1/2 of the soup can of milk
  • 1 4 oz can Green Chilies optional
  • 1/2 cup chopped mushrooms optional
  • 1 tsp salt to taste
  • 2 tsp ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp red chili flakes optional
  • 2-3 cups grated Cheddar Cheese

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees and adjust rack to the middle of your oven.
  • Prepare Macaroni & Cheese according to directions on the box, add the soup and additional milk, stir to combine.
  • In a large skillet, brown meat over medium heat. Drain fat and add onions, cook until onions are soft. Add green chilies, fresh mushrooms, salt, pepper, garlic powder, chili flakes, and stir until combined.
  • Add meat mixture to Macaroni & Cheese. Stir to combine and pour into a greased casserole dish. If using an oven safe skillet or enamel coated cast iron pan, add Macaroni & Cheese to the meat mixture then stir to combine.
  • Sprinkle with grated cheese (amount to your liking, I like a lot of cheese).
  • Bake 20-30 minutes at 375 degrees until bubbly and browned. Let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
